Years later, I married a man I believed met and exceeded my expectations. I also became a mom of two boys. It’s easy to claim my standards of a boy’s character. It’s a whole different story to raise two on my own. More importantly, should I still raise them according to my expectation?

One thing I value the most when it comes to parenting is my relationship with my kids. I am not willing to do anything to harm our relationship. Everything else is a fair game. This realization didn’t come easily though……

Jia and I are very different in so many accounts in life. When it comes to kids, we are seriously different. I LOVE kids. I can’t get enough of them. I adore every aspect of them, the good, the bad the stinky and the lovely. Jia on the other hand loves the idea of being a dad, but can’t handle the reality of spending time with them. The EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) patted on my shoulder before hopping on the ambulance with my 6.5 year old boy unconscious with oxygen mask on the face. I followed the ambulance inches apart, managing some wild turns and yellow light crossing just to not lose sight of it. It started raining hard just like the tears running down my face.
